Hotel Piora, Airolo,1 Switzerland. June 24.2
I have not been progressing so fast as I hoped3 and my doctor
recommends me to stay in Switzerland through most of
July. So I shall not be at St Andrews at their function. Is
there any chance of persuading you to come out and make a tour,
like that delightful one of last year? I am at present at Piora
with two colleagues, who will be staying on for 10 days or a
fortnight: but I am not very much enamoured of this place and would
infinitely rather join you. I would suggest that, if you could
come out, the Zinal valley4 which is next to^ the Evolena5 one, would
be an excellent one to explore. The station is Sierre,6
next to Sion.7 I shall certainly leave this^ place by July 3rd.
